Man killed in chimney explosion at house

A man was killed in a chimney accident at a house in the city of Chinchis in south-eastern Brazil.

Local authorities said a man in his 20s was killed when the explosion happened at a home in the town of Paz.

The cause of the explosion was not immediately clear.

Chinchicas is one of the biggest mining centres in Brazil.

The town has a population of about 3,000.

Local officials said they were investigating.

“We have confirmed that a man was hit in the chest by a chimneproof,” said state fire and rescue chief Alexandre Bambino.

He said the man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Chinchicos has been a hot spot for mining accidents in recent years.

In April, an explosion at a mine near the city killed at least three people.
