Chimney top, chimnel doors to have doors adjusted for new design article Chimneys that have been adjusted or replaced may be removed to address damage caused by weather, the mayor’s office said Friday.
The mayor’s Office of Emergency Management and Public Works says the city is working with contractors to install two new chimney covers on the chimneys of chimney top houses in Washington, D.C., on Thursday.
The chimneys will be fixed in three separate parts with a contractor working in the same building.
The mayor’s chief of staff said in a statement that the new chimneys are safe and will allow for improved ventilation of the buildings.
The city also has begun to work with contractors on the removal of chimneys on roofs, said Jennifer Brown, a spokeswoman for the mayor.
It’s a process that will take several months, she said.
The city has also installed new fire alarms and other emergency measures.
