Walmart has begun installing new coverings on all its stores to help prevent chimney fires and fires from spreading, the retailer said.
The new covers will come with a price tag of $7,500 per cover, according to the company’s statement.
Walmart said in January that it had installed a system to prevent chimneys from spreading on about 2,500 of its stores in the U.S. in the last year.
The new covers come after Walmart implemented a system of automatic fire suppression systems in January 2016.
Walmarts chimney covers, which are installed using charcoal from a chimney, were originally designed to be a temporary measure, Walmart said at the time.
Wal-Mart will be installing a new cover on its stores starting this week, but the new covers won’t be effective until the end of the year, Walmart spokeswoman Michelle Smith said in a statement.
Customers who want to keep their chimneys covered can contact the store for more information, Smith said.
